Kochi City has the Okwa-suji Old Samurai Residence, designated as a tangible cultural property and opened as a samurai mansion museum. There is also a scenic townscape called “Doikachu” in Aki City where old samurai residences are surrounded by hedges of bamboos and oaks on unspoiled streets. They remain in their original shapes and create an atmosphere of the feudal period centuries ago.
