Shimanto pork

The Shimanto brand of pork refers to meat from pigs raised in Shimanto Town’s Kubokawa district in the Shimanto River basin. The meat of the pig tastes differently depending on the feed they eat. Wheat-eating pigs have sweet fat while rice--bred pigs have high-quality fat, and firm and tightly textured meat. A bowl dish using the Shimanto pork and rice harvested in Shimanto Town is quite famous.
