Fruits

Kochi Prefecture has long daylight hours and the temperature difference between the morning and the evening is great, but the climate is generally warm and so high-quality fruits can grow in the prefecture. Kochi is famous for its production of citrus fruit in particular. Various fruits are raised in Kochi Prefecture. They include a flavorful “konatsu” citrus fruit that signals the beginning of summer during its season between April and June, a grapefruit-like “buntan” (pomelo) in season between October and April, and a “fruit tomato” raised with a special harvesting technique that tastes sweet like fruit.
