Bounty from rivers

There are many fresh streams in Kochi Prefecture, offering produce famous nationwide for their deliciousness. Among them are “ayu” sweetfish, dubbed the queen of fresh streams, river shrimp that can be consumed together with their shells if fried, rare “wild eels” that taste excellent when grilled, “cultured eels” that have a lot of fat, and bright-green, savory sea lettuce.
