The festival is held at night in July every year in the Akaoka town arcade in Konan City. Folding screens more than 100 years old painted by Ekin (Edo-era painter Hirose Kinzo) are displayed along the streets of Akaoka. His works mainly depict dynamic and fierce theatrical scenes and thus his genre is also called “an art of fresh blood.” The colorful folding screens are displayed in front of candles in the former post station. The festival is held only in July but the Ekin Museum in the town greets visitors all year round.
